The Golfer Friendly Course

San Bernardino Golf Club is situated along the banks of the Santa Ana River where the fairways meander amongst Fremont Cottonwoods and old-growth Sycamores, providing a wonderful green space right between old town San Bernardino and new San Bernardino on Hospitality Lane with its popular Restaurant Row.  San Bernardino Golf Club is a privately-owned regulation par 70, 18 hole golf course, that provides an ideal venue for a multitude of fund raising events that supports our community, and is the home of the San Bernardino County Amateur Golf Championship; the longest running championship golf tournament in the history of the County. The 2012 event was the 42nd.

The Great Blue Heron, Cassin’s Kingbird and Prairie Falcon seem to like it here too as they show up frequently in the annual Audubon Bird Count that we are happy to host every Christmas.  The 2010 Audubon count totaled 43 different species of birds.  We have also encouraged Fish and Game officials to use the golf course as a release station for injured birds that they have rehabilitated. These birds are usually raptors that pay us back by preying on such turf grass pests as gophers and ground squirrels.  We take great pride in the fact that San Bernardino Golf Club is a wonderful habitat for the traditional natural adversaries such as the coyote and the road runner; and it also nurtures our community in the form of a carbon sink.  All of this activity, in this sylvan setting, eagles pouncing on gophers, golfers making eagles, birds being counted and birdies being made, goes on within sight of downtown’s tall buildings and the easily accessible interchange of 215, 10 and 91.

It’s a big mistake to try to be all things to all people; a mistake that San Bernardino Golf Club does its best to make every single day.
